BPIA’s Government Affairs Committee (GAC) held a productive 2017 Winter Hill Day. Representatives from small, medium, and large BPIA member companies met with staff for members of the House Agriculture Committee and the House Appropriations Committee including Congressman David Price (D-NC), Congressman Jeff Denham (R-CA), Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM), and Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-CA).

During the meetings, discussions focused on the status of PRIA 4 and how if it does not get enacted soon, it will need to be addressed through the appropriations process in early 2018. BPIA members also talked about BPIA’s requests for the next Farm Bill including a definition for biostimulants and a biostimulants study by USDA. During lunch, BPIA members met with representatives from the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA). NASDA has a growing interest in biostimulants.

The GAC would like to thank all the BPIA members who participated in this final Hill Day of 2017, especially those who traveled from out of town. The GAC encourages all BPIA members to participate in future BPIA Hill Days.
