WASHINGTON, D.C. | August 1, 2025 — The Biological Products Industry Alliance (BPIA) applauds the Food and Agriculture Climate Alliance (FACA) for its forward-looking report, Nurturing Healthy Soils for Healthy Communities, which outlines a strong, science-based roadmap to advance soil health and improve community well-being across the United States.

The report’s emphasis on voluntary conservation, sustainable land management, and agricultural innovation aligns closely with BPIA’s mission and values. Notably, it calls for the establishment of a federal definition and regulatory framework for plant biostimulants—a long-overdue step that would unlock the full potential of these tools to improve soil health, enhance water quality, and build crop resilience.

The report also encourages the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to support research and programs that promote grower adoption of new technologies that benefit soil, water, air quality, and wildlife habitat—objectives that align directly with BPIA’s priorities and ongoing legislative efforts.

BPIA urges the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission to support the FACA report’s recommendations, particularly the call for a federal framework for plant biostimulants and the expanded role of USDA’s NRCS in promoting on-farm innovation. Advancing science-based regulation and broader adoption of plant biostimulants will give growers the tools they need to improve productivity, sustainability, and soil health.

“We commend FACA for spotlighting the critical role that innovation, including plant biostimulants, can play in promoting healthy soils and communities,” said John W.S. Dunmore, Director of Government and External Affairs at BPIA. “The bipartisan Plant Biostimulant Act of 2025 (H.R. 3783 / S. 1907) offers a pragmatic, science-driven solution that empowers growers, promotes environmental stewardship, and helps ensure the global competitiveness of American agriculture. We strongly urge the MAHA Commission to include this legislation in its national strategy.”

BPIA represents more than 175 companies committed to advancing environmentally responsible biological solutions in agriculture. We remain dedicated to working with policymakers, growers, and partners across the agricultural value chain to support resilient and sustainable farming systems.
