BPIA Responds to White House Strategy on Children’s Health, Underscores Role of Biological Products
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Biological Products Industry Alliance (BPIA) released a statement today in response to the White House’s Make Our Children Healthy Again strategy, emphasizing the role that biological products—such as biopesticides, biostimulants, and biofertilizers—can play in supporting public health, sustainable agriculture, and environmental protection.
“As the voice of the biological products sector, BPIA recognizes the MAHA Strategy as a constructive step toward advancing public health through coordinated policymaking,” said John W. S. Dunmore, Director of Government & External Affairs at BPIA. “The engagement of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) reflects the type of cross-agency collaboration needed to deliver meaningful outcomes.”
Biological products provide growers with tools that have little or no impact on human health or the environment, support soil and plant health, and function effectively within integrated pest and nutrient management systems. The MAHA Strategy highlights process improvements at EPA, including a commitment to reform the approval process for the full range of agricultural tools—including biologics—to ensure timely access to innovative, lower-risk solutions.
BPIA also acknowledged the strategy’s planned investments in EPA’s internal scientific capacity, including the establishment of the Office of Applied Sciences and Environmental Solutions and the expansion of staff within the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention.
“To further advance the goals of the MAHA Strategy, we encourage Congress to enact the Plant Biostimulant Act of 2025 (H.R. 3783 / S. 1907),” said Dunmore. “This bipartisan legislation would establish a federal definition for plant biostimulants and clarify agency responsibilities—providing the kind of regulatory clarity and coordination that aligns directly with the Strategy’s emphasis on science-based innovation and safer agricultural tools.”
BPIA remains committed to working with the White House, EPA, USDA, HHS, and Congress to ensure biological products continue to serve as a trusted, effective component of U.S. agriculture—supporting grower success, environmental stewardship, and long-term health outcomes.
