BPIA has submitted comments to the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) in advance of the Fall 2025 Meeting. The comments address several key agenda items relevant to biological products and organic production.
BPIA’s comments include support for:
-
Livestock and Crops Sunset Reviews: Continuing the listing of EPA List 4 inerts to maintain regulatory consistency while USDA develops updated inert ingredient regulations.
-
Pear Ester Petition: Approving synthetically produced pear ester as a kairomone for use in organic crop production without unnecessary use limitations, ensuring consistency with the treatment of similar semiochemicals.
-
Other Chemicals Subject to Sunset: Continuing the allowance of several synthetic substances essential to organic production, while maintaining prohibitions on substances such as arsenic and strychnine.
BPIA appreciates the opportunity to provide input and looks forward to continued collaboration with NOSB and USDA to support innovation and regulatory clarity in organic production.
