The National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) is holding its next public meeting on April 25-27 in Washington, DC, and BPIA will be there. The meeting will be held in the Blue Room at the Omni Shoreham Hotel at 2500 Calvert Street, NW, Washington, DC, a short walk from the Woodley Park-Zoo Metro Station.

During the meeting, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the National Organic Program (NOP) will provide the NOSB with updates, an overview of petitioned substances, sunset materials, and technical reports. The NOSB will also hear public comments grouped by topic. The NOSB members will present subcommittee proposals, reports, discussion documents, and discuss public comments prior to voting on proposals. The public is encouraged to provide written comments via Regulations.gov. Anyone wishing to provide oral comments during the meeting is asked to sign up in advance. Instructions are available here.

There are two ways to provide oral comments to the NOSB through a webinar or the face-to-face meeting. Walk-in comment slots may become available on a first come-first served basis at the meeting, if the schedule allows. You may sign up for only one speaking slot. Commenters will be allowed either a 4-minute time slot during the webinar, or a 3-minute time slot at the face-to-face meeting. Each commenter must state his/her name and affiliation for the record at the beginning of their comments.

If you or a representative of your BPIA member company plan to attend the meeting in person, please let us know by Friday, April 15th here, so you can be a part of the BPIA activities.
