Rather than hold an in-person meeting, the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) will hold its Spring 2020 meeting online via public webinar on April 29-30, 2020.The purpose of the NOSB meeting is to give stakeholders an opportunity to provide feedback on proposed NOSB recommendations and to allow the NOSB to receive updates from USDA’s National Organic Program (NOP). Along with some of our members, BPIA will provide oral comments during the pubic webinar on behalf of the biological products industry.

BPIA has already submitted written comments. BPIA’s comments offer recommendations regarding three areas: (1) Procedure: National List Petition Guidelines; (2) the National Organic Standards Board Policy and Procedures Manual; and (3) the interpretation of 7 U.S.C. § 6517. See comments here.

If you are interested in these or any other issues related to the work of the NOSB/NOP or the role of biological products in organic agriculture, please consider joining BPIA’s Organic Subcommittee here.

BPIA would like to thank all our members who helped draft our comments, especially Cindy Smith of BPIA member company, Conn & Smith, Inc.
