BPIA Urges Senate Agriculture Committee to Advance Key Biological Ag Provisions Ahead of Farm Bill Markup
Washington, DC — Ahead of the Senate Agriculture Committee’s markup of the Agricultural Act of 2026 on August 6, the Biological Products Industry Alliance (BPIA) today voiced strong support for provisions that advance agricultural innovation, strengthen regulatory coordination, and expand grower access to biological technologies. BPIA, which represents more than 180 member companies advancing biological solutions for agriculture, highlighted its support for:
- The Plant Biostimulant Act, which establishes a clear federal definition and regulatory framework for plant biostimulants.
- Provisions directing USDA to prioritize integration of innovative technologies into conservation practice standards, recognizing biological sources of fertilizer and nutrient-use efficiency tools.
- Strengthened USDA–EPA coordination on pesticide policy to ensure science-based, transparent decision-making.
- The establishment of an Office of Biotechnology Policy within USDA to improve coordination and support emerging technologies.
- Continued authorization of the Office of Pest Management Policy (OPMP) to inform federal pesticide policy and support integrated pest management.
“These provisions reflect a thoughtful, bipartisan approach to modernizing agricultural policy and ensuring producers have access to innovative tools that improve productivity, soil health, and resilience,” said John W.S.
